A major milestone has been reached for the seven IDEAL Cluster projects with the publication of the IDEAL Guideline for Indoor Air Management, a collaborative output that brings together the latest knowledge and innovations generated across the cluster.
The Guideline was officially handed over to Rita Araujo from the European Commission during the IDEAL Cluster Summit, held in Brussels in June 2026, marking an important step in translating research into practical tools that support healthier indoor environments across Europe.
Developed jointly by the seven IDEAL Cluster projects and led by DIN – the German Institute for Standardization, a partner in the SynAir-G project, the Guideline consolidates the latest scientific insights and technological advancements from the projects into a comprehensive, practical resource for indoor air quality (IAQ) management.
Its main objective is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and practical implementation by providing evidence-based guidance for those responsible for assessing, managing and improving indoor air quality. By making the findings of the IDEAL Cluster projects accessible and actionable, the Guideline supports the uptake of best practices across a wide range of settings.
The Guideline is intended for a diverse audience, ranging from indoor air quality professionals, building and environmental experts and public health professionals to researchers, academics, educators and students working in the fields of health sciences, public health and building science.
By providing a unified, evidence-based framework for indoor air quality management, the IDEAL Guideline aims to strengthen IAQ practices across Europe, support healthier indoor environments and contribute to more informed policymaking.
